Descanso Gardens invites you on a journey through cultivated gardens and untouched natural landscapes. Nestled within this beauty will soon be Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens, where Chef Richard Mead will combine his culinary artistry, using nature as inspiration.
At Farmhouse, everyone can gather and enjoy delicious meals inspired by Descanso’s charm. Chef Mead’s dishes blend creativity and care and are made with ingredients from nearby farmers—many of whom are friends he’s known for years.
Anchored by a spacious main dining room, Farmhouse will feature a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, with a lovely garden patio and outdoor cocktail lounge. The stunning indoor/outdoor bar was crafted by local artisan William Stranger, and made from oaks that fell in the gardens.
Hand-painted murals of our botanical collections will adorn the walls of the booths, and vibrant greenery will merge the restaurant with the beautiful natural surroundings.

The Farmhouse is at the forefront of fresh, seasonal cuisine, sourced right from California’s backyard. Chef Richard Mead brings the freshness of fields, orchards, and artisanal foods directly to your table.

Who is Chef Richard Mead?
Chef Rich Mead has been cooking farm-to-table food before the term even existed. With decades of culinary expertise, Chef Mead has cultivated relationships with the highest regarded local and sustainably focused farms and purveyors, allowing him to create the freshest menus using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and specially grown vegetables. Today, Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens is the culmination of Mead’s long-standing relationship with these farmers and purveyors, who have become in many ways like family and have provided him with quality ingredients that Farmhouse uses throughout the menu in thoughtfully crafted dishes and cocktails.
